Description
What do you want to be when you grow up? We are asked this question as early as we can remember.
In elementary school, we drew pictures of ourselves as teachers, singers, doctors, firefighters, and astronauts, dreaming about what we might become one day. In high school, we took aptitude tests that tried to answer the question for us. As we entered college or the workforce, the stress kicked in as the pressure to find an answer intensified.
And then, before we knew it, we’ve chosen a major, forged a career path, and begun our journey while still trying to figure it all out along the way. And although the question changes, it remains. Every time we meet someone new, one of the first questions they ask will undoubtedly be: What do you do?
An underneath it all, we continue to ask ourselves a million more questions…
What do I want to do with my life? Does what I do matter? What am I good at? What are my dreams? What is God calling me to do? Does God care about what career I choose? How do I honor Him with my work?
Work is a major part of our lives. And our work is more than simply what we get paid to do. Our work encompasses all that God has given us to do with our gifts, our talents, and our lives. You may know exactly what role you were meant to fulfill. Or perhaps you are still trying to figure it out.
Wherever you are on your journey, we invite you to join us for Part Two of our Faithful Living study - Purpose: Eternal Significance in Everyday Work. We’ll explore the Bible to discover how to live faithfully through our responsibilities and livelihoods. Along the way, we will make connections to your personal circumstances and reflect on new ways to apply the truth of God’s Word to your actual life and work. Join us in this pursuit of faithful living through work.
